Canon Abilities/Powers:
Corran, as a Jedi, is gifted with using the mystical ability called the Force. The Force is a mystical energy field that binds all living beings but Corran is a little unique in how he uses it. Namely, he specializes in three areas and has absolutely no talent in the other various methods of Force usage. For example, with telekinesis, Corran can't even move a pebble with the power of the Force, no matter how hard he tries. But he makes up for that with what he can do.

The first area he specializes in is mind tricks and illusions. When Corran first began training his ability to use the force, he was able to create illusions that fooled even Luke Skywalker, the only remaining Jedi Master. Before he even knew he could use the Force, he was able to use Jedi mind tricks to keep himself hidden while others were searching for him. To say that he's very talented in this area is an understatement.

The second area is precognition. Once again, before Corran knew he could use the force, he had an amazing gut instinct that led him to make split-second decisions that saved his life. After training, he became an amazing swordsman, fighter, and pilot because his ability to read into the very near future was outstanding. Later in life and honing this ability makes him one of the best lightsaber duelists the Jedi had in the era he lived in. His ability to use the Force like this lets him fight with his eyes closed as his ability to detect the present and near future is simple that good.

The third area is energy absorption and conversion. Using the force, Corran is able to absorb outside energy and heat and use it to fuel his usage of the force. Boiling water, blaster bolts, Force attacks directed at him, even having a lightsaber stabbed into him; All of these let him essentially overcharge in Force powers. Which he can then use in one burst to perform feats with the Force he normally could not perform, such as using telekinesis. It’s very dangerous to perform, however, and often the only time he is in a situation to use this ability is one where he would die if he couldn’t.

What is their greatest negative emotion towards an object, situation, or person in their past?:
Corran’s biggest negative emotion is very blatantly towards himself. He is very quick to blame himself anytime either he or his friends end up in a negative situation, especially when things are out of his control. During a raid on a Rebel base by Stormtroopers, Corran acted to save his friends but, unfortunately, one pilot was killed. Corran threw himself through the wringer, telling himself that if he was more focused, put in more effort, and was more successful, that friend could have survived. This would happen again when his wife was kidnapped during an undercover mission she was on. Corran again blamed himself because he felt his wife never would have taken the mission if he hadn’t pinned the decision of having children with her on the destruction of the insurgent group she attempted to infiltrate. The examples for this are about as long as his canon as it is something that is intrinsically part of Corran.

Unfortunately, the impact on him due to this is that he is slow to make friends, is incredibly judgemental of people he is meeting for the first time, and doesn’t trust easily. He internally rationalizes that if he doesn’t have friends and pushes people away, he can’t fail them. Of course, on a mental level, he knows this. On an emotional level, he never realizes he frequently shuts himself off from making friends and close relationships.

This trait also causes Corran to be hard on himself also. He often works too hard, trains too hard, and puts himself in direct competition to be the best at whatever he’s doing. To him, if he’s not the best, how can he keep himself from failing other people. This then rolls into him being very stubborn and hardheaded and, unless is told that he’s doing something wrong, he won’t stop what he’s doing until it gets him the results he wants. His fear of failing others essentially snowballs into causing many of his personality traits.

How aware are they of this negative emotion, and how do they act on it in canon?:
Corran is very aware of the fact that he is hard on himself. However, he is not aware of the effects it has on him in his daily life. So often, when left to his own devices, he does not act on it and often travels down a self-destructive path. Fortunately for Corran, he does have close friends who are more than happy to chide him when he starts going down a dangerous mental path. And, to Corran’s credit, when he is offered criticism, he is very quick to analyze and act on it. If someone sits him down and explains what the issue is, even if he’s incredibly angry, he’ll cool down and realize that the other person is far more correct about things than he is.

This happens on a pretty frequent basis. His best friend, Iella, and his teacher, Luke, are both the biggest influences when it comes to helping reign in Corran’s self-destructive thoughts. But he is very willing to listen, take advice, and self-reflect when others take the time do provide such things.

What is their greatest virtue?:
His greatest virtue is his willingness to help others without needing a reason to do so. He’s built much of his career around this. He joined the Corellian Security Force not only because his father was an officer but because he wanted to protect others from drug dealers, smugglers, and bounty hunters. His father also instilled in him that holding evil at bay was one of the most important things a person can do. As someone who spent much of his life wanting to make his father proud, Corran holds true to that as one of the other core aspects to his personality; fighting evil and helping others who need it.

How aware are they of their virtue, and how do they act on it in canon?:
Since Corran bases his life around helping others, he is very aware of that virtue. He doesn’t revel in it or hold it over others, not being boastful about self-sacrifice even if he is cocky about other talents he has. However, he does use it to be a positive influence in the Security Force. Whether it involves saving people from criminals or helping a co-worker who was put into an embarrassing and discriminatory situation, Corran is always first to volunteer. And when it came to fighting the Empire and helping the galaxy, Corran stepped up and joined the Rogue Squadron, the best starfighter squadron in the galaxy. And beyond that, he agreed to train and become a Jedi because it was the best way to help and protect every citizen of the New Republic and beyond.
